Events at London Irish Centre and the Irish Embassy
The UK launch of In Fact: An Optimist’s Guide to Ireland at 100 took place this week at two separate events.
The public launch took place at the London Irish Centre in Camden. I delivered a talk on Ireland at 100: how the country took its place among the leading nations of the world. There was great engagement from the audience about Ireland’s progress and how the country has achieved the UN's second highest quality of life ranking in the world. The event concluded with a book signing with copies provided by the lovely Primrose Hill Books. Thanks to everyone who beat the train strikes to attend.
In addition, I was invited to speak at the Irish Embassy at a gathering of the Irish Media Network. The Ambassador opened proceedings and I discussed Ireland’s progress and why the news cycle can give people a misleading impression of the long-term, positive change that’s occurring. I feared the expert media audience would be a tough crowd when it came to questions, but they kindly spared me a grilling and we had a constructive chat about the positive developments and challenges facing Ireland today.
Thank you to the team at the Embassy for the invitation and organisation.
